Anti wrinkle treatments
Botulinum Toxin injections are most commonly used to temporarily relax muscles in the forehead, frown and around the eyes; to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles in this area. There are however other areas that can be treated that can be discussed at consultation.
Botulinum Toxin Type A is a neurotoxin that when injected, blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle, by trimming the nerve endings, reducing or stopping the muscle contraction temporarily. This temporary relaxation of the muscle means that the skin no longer creases, making wrinkles fade or disappear altogether.
Once BTX is injected into the body it only sticks around for 48 hours. During this time, it trims the receptors of the muscles that have been injected. These receptors, which receive messages from the brain telling the muscle to move gradually, grow back over a period of several months. During the time that the muscles are relaxed, the skin in this area has chance to heal, and lines to soften. Done well, the effect is a subtle, natural improvement. The results aren’t immediate, it is usually after 2 to 5 days that you start to notice the effect, which is at its best after 2 weeks. Movement usually starts to reappear after about 8 weeks and you can have a treatment at week 12 if you wish.
Gone are the days where people wanted a “frozen” look, now botulinum toxin is used to soften lines, whilst retaining natural movement of the muscles. A thorough consultation will be carried out to ascertain what you want to achieve and the look you are after.
Dermal fillers
Carefully placed dermal fillers are most commonly used to give a more youthful and refreshed look by softening lines and folds and replacing the volume lost during the natural process if ageing.
Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment for both men and women and used to fill / add volume to areas of the skin that have either lost its natural volume or areas which may have never had much volume, for example, tear trough, temple hollows or lips.
Most dermal fillers are formulated with hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar substance that our bodies produce. Hyaluronic acid is a water holding molecule that helps to keep skin plump and hydrated. We use Juvederm dermal fillers depending on the area treated, to provide excellent results. At the beginning of this treatment we will apply numbing cream to the treatment area for a more comfortable experience.
As we get older, our skin gradually loses its hydration, fats, elasticity and collagen. Various areas of the face and body loses its volume due to the natural ageing process, the environment, smoking, stress and sun exposure. Dermal fillers are safe and effective treatments used to volumise, smooth and hydrate with immediate non-permanent results that last 6 to 18 months dependent upon the area, product and person.
Profhilo®
Profhilo® (type of skin booster) is an injectable treatment available today that is specifically designed to target and reverse this breakdown in collagen and elastin.
As we start to age one of the first places we begin notice these changes is in our skin. At the age of 30 hyaluronic acid stops being produced, and as our collagen and elastin cells begin to break down we notice our skin beginning to sag and loose its fullness.
Profhilo® is the only injectable treatment available today that is specifically designed to target and reverse this breakdown in collagen and elastin. Unlike any other hyaluronic acid treatment on the market, this product not only hydrates the skin, but also remodels the ageing structure and function of the skin and sagging tissues. Two (2) treatments are required four (4) weeks apart and after this you should expect to notice your skin appear firmer, tighter, lifted and with improved elasticity.
You should also notice an improvement in the tone and the texture of the skin as it is more hydrated, and you will appear more radiant. It hydrates the skin from the inside out! Treatment is usually aimed at people between 40-60 years old, however treating the younger face has its place when thinking about preventing the ageing process.
The most common areas to be treated is the face, neck and the décolletage, but the hands and the arms can also be treated. This product isn’t a dermal filler, a skin booster or mesotherapy. It is one of a kind and a must in the fight against ageing.
